I went shopping with a friend of mine today in the city and it just so happened (by coincidence) that it was also the day of Zara's opening. I didn't know about it until last week when i randomly decided to see if there was any news about it. I was so excited! We were there for around 3 hours from 9:30 to 1:00, but that was because of all the waiting. First we waited to get in the store (i found it so amusing how there were staff going around with baskets of apples asking if anyone wanted one, + bottled water), then we waited about a million years to get into a changing room (really stupid how they only had five change rooms on the lower floor), and then we had to wait again to pay.
Although i've been hyped since last week about Zara finally opening a store in Australia, i have to say that i was a little bit disappointed by the range of clothes offered. I don't think they lived up to my expectations, and i really do think there are better clothes on their site. The shoes were definitely disappointing. I honestly expected to splurge today and even though i went into the change room with nine items, i ended up only buying two cardigans/knits and a headband after trying them on. Well considering that they receive new stock every two weeks (apparently), i hope they stock more of their European range. I do wish that it were summer though, because i seem to like summer clothing more. Hehe random people kept asking us how Zara was when we shopped around at other places. I find it quite amazing how renown it is.
Some time in the afternoon. Excuse the reflection in the glass.
Oh! I also finally stepped foot in a Tiffany & Co. store. Having only seen images on their site because i haven't had the chance to go to the actual store before, i always thought that Tiffany keys were really pretty but after seeing them in real life, i didn't want them as much. I mean they're still nice, but i don't think i'd be willing to spend the money for them. Is it just me or have i been rather let down today? *laughs* Oh well, the good thing is that my bank account balance didn't suffer anywhere near as much as i thought it would. I had fun anyway (:
Hehe i read that Top Shop is coming next year!
''It is understood that Topshop … has secured a new local partnership with Next Athleisure and would like to open their first flagship store in Sydney CBD in 2012,'' Mr Alamsyah said. ''Forever 21 from the US has recently met with major shopping centre owners to discuss takeover of some of the embattled bookstore chain Borders' stores in Australia.'' The H&M group is still talking with some major Australian shopping centre owners and retail leasing agents, however there is no commitment yet.
